Superintendent's Message
Welcome to Fort Leavenworth School District (USD 207). As Superintendent, I have the distinct pleasure and take great pride in leading this school district in its pursuit of excellence in education for our students.
The Fort Leavenworth School District is one-of-a-kind, not only in the State of Kansas but also in the country. We operate entirely on Federal Property but are not a part of the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) system. As a Kansas Public School District, we adhere to all requirements and regulations set by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE).
By Kansas Statute, our district serves students in grades Preschool through Ninth Grade. Our student population consists of over 90% dependents of active-duty military soldiers. As a result, we experience student mobility and transitions of nearly 50% each year. We continually welcome new students and families, and wish those departing Fort Leavenworth much success in their next assignments.
Our annual intent is to maximize the time we have with our students, whether they are here with us for one year or through all grade levels. We strive to provide all students with experiences that are positive and meaningful in their future academic and career-ready pursuits. We look forward to challenging their critical thinking and problem-solving while fostering creativity through learning.
By joining our school community, your student will be introduced to a variety of academic and social-emotional resources from one of the highest-performing districts in the state. With the support of DoDEA Grant Programs, we have additional tools to increase our daily focus on individualized student support, integrate movement to facilitate student achievement, incorporate additional project-based learning opportunities, and implement a comprehensive social-emotional curriculum. I am confident our students are engaged and excited about learning as we focus on their individual growth.
