Nature Journals

nature journal

Do you know what’s living around your school?  Have you ever seen animal tracks and wondered what creature they belonged to?  Join the Nature group to find out.  In this group you’ll use your observation, research and artistic skills to create a nature journal.  You’ll take nature walks and find items of interest from leaves to feathers and fur.  You’ll compile the information into an artistic guide to document what is living in nature in the areas surrounding the school.  Consider this to be the yearbook of what’s living outside the school.  It may be even more interesting than the creatures you see roaming the halls everyday at school.

How much wildlife is around your school?  This group researched the plants and animals that are native to the area of USD 207.  More specifically, they took walks around the school building looking for plants, animals, footprints, feathers, fur, and anything else they could find.  They created nature guides that included the research and found items.  The final guides were displayed at an after school learning fair to share with students, staff and parents.
