K.A.R. 91-31-32 speaks to accreditation of schools, requiring a program of instruction in adolescent growth and development in Kansas Schools. USD 207’s Adolescent Growth and Development Program of Instruction for 4th, 5th and 6th grade students will be presented in the spring this year. Students have the opportunity to be involved in the following instruction:

Fourth Grade Girls Growth & Development
• Growth and Development

Fourth Grade Boys Hygiene
• Personal Hygiene

Fifth Grade Girls and Boys
• Growth & Development
• AIDS

Sixth Grade Girls and Boys
• Growth & Development
• AIDS
• A Baby is Born

Our school health professional will provide the actual instruction. As we have done previously, we do plan to present the program information for any parents preferring to preview it in advance of their child receiving it. The parental preview has been rescheduled from the snow day cancellation and will now be held at the Board of Education Office on Thursday, March 1, 2018. Showing of the audio-visual portion of the program will be: 11:15 – 11:45AM for 4th grade parents, 12:00 – 1:30PM for 5th grade parents, and 1:30 – 3:00PM for 6th grade parents. If you have a conflict with the date listed, please contact your child’s school nurse and set a date with her to view it at school.

Parents or guardians are to complete the opt-in request by obtaining a copy of the appropriate form from the nurse, completing and signing the form and returning the form to the school nurse. These will be distributed to students in each class, grades 4-6. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school nurse if you have any questions about the content or scheduling. We appreciate your ongoing support.
