Scoliosis - 5th & 6th grade girls only

What
Scoliosis - 5th & 6th grade girls only
When
12/3/2014

The School Nurse will be screening the fifth and sixth grade girls for scoliosis at Bradley Elementary on December 3, 2014.

Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine. These curves usually are first noticed with the beginning of the adolescent growth spurt. Often early detection and appropriate treatment can prevent severe progression.

The screening procedure takes very little time, but does require the student to remove her top in order to observe the spine. Privacy is provided behind screens and I do provide sports bras for those who forget to wear a bra or halter-top.

If a deviation from the normal limits is suspected, you will be promptly notified and a request will be made for you to take your child to a physician for diagnosis.

If you have any questions or concerns please call the School Nurse at 651-6915, Ext. 1114.
